Evaluation Process

The effectiveness of the instructional module will be determined through formative and summative evaluation techniques. These are best performed during and immediately after the instruction. According to Morrison (2011), the formative evaluation deals with the question, “How are we doing?” This is important to ensure that the module is not moving too slow or fast. In addition, if the students need more clarification on part of the lesson, then the instructor can provide more assistance in that part of the presentation. A quick show of hands is sometimes an easy way to make sure everyone is on the same page. The summative evaluations are more concerned with, “How did we do?” An audience survey would be an excellent way to gauge the satisfaction as well as measure understanding at various parts of the instruction. It should be broken up into parts so the instructor can pinpoint which areas of the module are in need of modification.

If confirmative evaluation is used it will most likely be 30 days or more after the instruction has taken place. These would be the follow up assessments and polls on how the educators are utilizing what they learned with their own students. Questions relevant to each person’s type of instruction would need to be formulated.
